About Athletics
Yellow Spring Schools offers to all its students an athletic program with a rich tradition. It focuses on developing its student-athletes into well-rounded individuals who understand the importance of playing as a team and winning or losing with integrity.
The Yellow Springs Schools Athletic Department is made up of interscholastic athletic teams for YS Middle School grades 7-8 and YS High School grades 9-12. We proudly compete as a member of both the Metro Buckeye Conference and the OHSAA. We offer a total of 16 Varsity programs and 7 Middle School programs.
Welcome to a new chapter in BULLDOG Athletics!
I am extremely excited to join the BULLDOGS and be a part of the Yellow Springs community as we begin another excellent school year! As your Athletic Director, I plan to help lead the Bulldogs to new heights while maintaining the values of this great organization!
As Bulldogs, we will have high expectations in both the classroom and on the playing field. We will set the standard for both ACADEMIC and ATHLETIC achievement and show that with DEDICATION, PERSEVERANCE, and SPORTSMANSHIP, our student-athletes and athletic programs are the best of the best!
We are proud members of both the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and the Metro Buckeye Conference (MBC), competing in a variety of Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School sports.
This past school year saw nearly 100 student-athletes participate in athletics with Bulldog Nation! My challenge to the community is to help us increase this number for the upcoming school year! Athletics has so much to offer young developing minds, creating opportunities for leadership, critical thinking, goal setting, and so much more!
As a former student-athlete in both high school and college, I understand the dedication and determination it takes to compete at a high level while maintaining high academic standards. I also know that without my parents, teachers, coaches, and so many more, I would not have been able to be as successful as I was in my endeavors. It takes a community to help our students and student-athletes reach the pinnacle of success!
Our #1 goal will always be to focus on the success of our student-athletes as a whole human. I firmly believe that the name Student-Athlete puts STUDENT first for a reason. These young people are learning to manage their time, commitments, and responsibilities, and our job as teachers, coaches, and leaders is to help them along the way.
I am proud to join the Yellow Springs staff and look forward to working with such a dedicated group of individuals who are committed to working with our student-athletes to help them be successful both academically and athletically. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
AS ALWAYS, GO BULLDOGS!
Sean Herbert, Director of Athletics
